Donderdag 26 januari tot en met zondag 26 februari 2012 vindt in Den Haag de 13e editie van het Holland Dance Festival plaats (2014: klik hier). Het tweejaarlijkse dansfestival ‘staat bekend om haar sterke en verrassende programmering voor een breed publiek’, met dansgezelschappen uit binnen- en buitenland, workshops en masterclasses.
Thema dit jaar is Source of Inspiration. Zaterdag 28 januari is de galavoorstelling in het Lucent Dans Theater, met onder meer het Nederlands Dans Theater 2, Introdans, de New Yorkse Limon Dance Company en de Franse superster Sylvie Guillem. Een traditioneel onderdeel is de Dans Parade, waarbij balletscholen uit heel Den Haag al dansend door het centrum samenkomen op het Spuiplein (de datum is nergens te vinden).

Do not miss Sylvie Guillem”s newest work at the Holland Dance Festival on January 26th and January 27th. I had the good fortune to see this show at its premiere at the Sadlers Theater in London last July and I highly reccommend it to everyone who loves Sylvie Guillem and dancing in general. Guillem”s duet (the Forsythe piece) is amazingly virtuoso, precise, complex whereas the pice created for Guillem by Mats Ek reveals the dancer at her most profound and intimate. It is worth nothing that Guillem has just won the National Dance Award for Outstanding performnace (modern) for this extraordinary work.
